GLOW is a peptide complex studied in the field of tissue regeneration and skin condition. Its formula combines three peptides with complementary mechanisms. The copper peptide GHK-Cu is associated with collagen synthesis and skin remodeling. BPC-157 has been studied in blood vessel formation and connective tissue repair. TB-500, derived from thymosin beta-4, is involved in cell migration. At PurePeptides, GLOW is supplied with a certificate of analysis for each batch.

What is GLOW

GLOW brings together three peptides that have been studied separately in different phases of tissue repair:

  • GHK-Cu: a complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (Gly-His-Lys) with copper (Cu²⁺). GHK is found naturally in human plasma, saliva, and urine.
  • BPC-157: a 15-amino acid synthetic peptide whose sequence is derived from a protein in human gastric juice.
  • TB-500: a synthetic peptide based on the active region of thymosin beta-4, which binds to actin.

The interest in combining them is based on the fact that they act on different processes. GHK-Cu is involved in extracellular matrix synthesis and skin remodeling. BPC-157 acts on blood vessel formation, and TB-500 acts on the migration of cells to the damaged area.

What do the studies show

GHK was identified in human plasma by Loren Pickart in 1973. Its concentration decreases with age, and its high affinity for copper allows it to transport it into cells. In cell cultures and animal models, GHK-Cu has been studied in relation to:

  • increased synthesis of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans in fibroblasts;
  • extracellular matrix remodeling through the regulation of metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their inhibitors (TIMPs);
  • wound healing and blood vessel formation;
  • protection against oxidative stress and inflammation.

One of the first studies on its effect on collagen is that of Maquart et al. (FEBS Letters, 1988). Subsequent analyses of gene expression databases, collected by Pickart and Margolina (International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2018), suggest that GHK modulates the activity of numerous genes related to tissue repair. Due to these properties, copper peptides are also used as an ingredient in cosmetics.

Laboratory application

BPC-157 has been studied primarily in rodents, largely by Predrag Sikirić's group at the University of Zagreb. There are three main lines of study. The first is blood vessel formation, with an increase in VEGF and its receptor VEGFR2. The second is vascular responses linked to nitric oxide. The third is the repair of tendons, ligaments, muscle, and digestive mucosa.

Research on TB-500 relies heavily on studies with full-length thymosin beta-4. In cellular and animal models, Tβ4 has been linked to actin regulation, cell migration, angiogenesis, and skin and corneal wound repair. This connects it directly to the skin component of GLOW.

Format and order

The format and content of each peptide are indicated on the product datasheet. Lyophilized presentations are reconstituted with a solvent before use. Due to the copper in GHK-Cu, both the powder and the solution have a characteristic blue color. The lyophilized product is stable during storage; once opened or reconstituted, it should be kept in a refrigerator, at no more than 5 °C, and protected from light.

FAQ

What peptides does GLOW contain?

Three: the copper peptide GHK-Cu, BPC-157, and TB-500, a synthetic peptide based on thymosin beta-4./

Why are these three peptides combined?

Because each one acts on a different process of tissue repair:

  • GHK-Cu: collagen synthesis and skin remodeling;
  • BPC-157: blood vessel formation and connective tissue repair;
  • TB-500: cell migration and wound closure.

How does GLOW differ from BPC-157 + TB-500?

GLOW includes the same two peptides and adds GHK-Cu. With it, the combination incorporates a line of study focused on collagen, the extracellular matrix, and the skin, as well as tissue repair.

Why is GLOW blue?

Due to the GHK-Cu copper. Copper complexes (Cu²⁺) have a characteristic blue color, both in powder and in solution, and it is a normal sign of their presence.

How is GLOW stored?

The lyophilizate is stable during storage. Once opened or reconstituted, store in a refrigerator at no more than 5 °C and protect from light.
